SEATTLE, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Isilon Systems (NASDAQ:ISLN) , the proven leader in scale-out NAS, today announced it has joined with leading channel partners to deliver the benefits of scale-out NAS for virtualized environments, thus driving increased simplicity, agility, efficiency and value for enterprise customers. With Isilon IQ, enterprises can eliminate data fragmentation and complex management challenges of traditional SAN and NAS, which severely limit efficiency and value in virtualized environments. By using Isilon scale-out NAS to unify hundreds or thousands of virtual machines onto a single, highly scalable, high-performance, shared pool of storage, enterprises can maximize the IT efficiency gains possible with server virtualization, while reducing capital and operational expenditures.

"As our customers turn to virtualization to drive efficiency and cost-savings in their businesses, they are encountering significant challenges in scaling traditional SAN and NAS systems to meet the demands of virtualized applications," said Alan Dumas, founder and president, Accunet Solutions. "However, when we demonstrate how Isilon IQ scales out unlike any other system to deliver the capacity and performance necessary to effectively power virtualized environments, it's an easy sell."

"Virtualization is simply the best way to increase business agility and reduce costs across the data center and our customer base is adopting this practice at an accelerating rate," said Michael Ferguson, CEO, Terrapin. "While this presents an exciting business opportunity, the complexity of traditional storage systems continues to significantly limit the potential of server virtualization. With Isilon IQ, we not only have the ideal architecture for maximizing the benefits of our customers' virtualized environments, but its ease-of-use and installation frees more IT spend for our own professional services in creating fully integrated, virtual solutions."

Isilon recently released two new product bundles available only through its channel partners and designed them specifically for the unique demands of server virtualization. The first bundle combines Isilon's highest performance 5400S nodes with its SnapshotIQ, SmartConnect and SmartQuotas software applications to deliver industry-leading IOPS and robust data management for the most performance-intensive virtualized applications. The second bundle combines Isilon's 12000 nodes with SnapshotIQ, SmartConnect and SmartQuotas, providing the ideal balance of performance and capacity for mixed workloads in virtual environments.

"By creating channel-only bundles designed specifically for virtual data centers, we are providing our channel partners with the opportunity to drive significantly increased value for their customers - and greater margins for their own business - while riding the single most influential trend in enterprise IT," said Leonard Iventosch, vice president of global channels and OEM, Isilon Systems. "With Isilon scale-out NAS, our channel can sell a single file system and point of management scalable to multiple petabytes of capacity and nearly 2 million IOPS, enabling their customers to achieve simplicity at any scale and realize the promise of server virtualization."  About Isilon Systems
