SAN JOSE, Calif., May 11, 2009 - Brocade today introduced new products and features that span all layers of the network, reinforcing the company's commitment to continuous IP networking innovation. These products significantly improve the customer experience through increased performance, reliability, and power/cooling/space efficiency while reducing complexity and cost.

The new IP networking solutions provide the advanced application delivery, data center connectivity, and enterprise campus network capabilities administrators and architects need to build next-generation networks that enable new and emerging local area network (LAN) end-point devices, improve mission-critical application performance, and simplify top-of-rack server connectivity.

Specifically, Brocade introduced:

-- Brocade TurboIron?? 24X 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) top-of-rack switch -- Brocade ServerIron?? ADX Series Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs) -- Brocade FastIron?? CX Series of Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+)-ready switches

TurboIron 24X: Transforming Data Center Top-of-Rack Server ConnectivityPerformance-driven top-of-rack solution:

Compact top-of-rack data center solution that provides 24-ports of 10 GbE/1 GbE wire-speed performance with ultra-low latency for server access and aggregation in a 1U form factor Maximizing flexibility and reliability while simplifying expansion:

Flexibility to mix and match 10 GbE and 1 GbE server access in one highly reliable switch, protecting investments while easing migration from 1 GbE to 10 GbE-capable server farms Green data center capabilities with a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO):

Lower capital and operational expenditures provide a long-term, cost-effective platform that helps maximize scalability while significantly reducing power consumption -- with just half the 10 GbE port power consumption of alternative solutions

A future-ready compact design in a 1U form factor frees up valuable rack space while the built-in IPv6 capability prepares the platform for future IP addressing requirementsServerIron ADX Series: Revolutionizing Application Delivery Efficiency

Performance:

Industry-leading performance per price, per rack unit, and per watt with twice the 10 Gigabit density and Layer 4-7 throughput of any competitive offering Application intelligence:

Tested and proven to interoperate with universally deployed enterprise applications from Microsoft, Oracle, and SAP -- resulting in reduced risk, lower implementation costs, and faster deployment

Security:Leading-edge hardware-based Denial of Service (DoS) and SYN-cookie protection combined with four times the Layer 4 transaction rate to help prevent firewall meltdown and maintain maximum performance

FastIron CX Series: Redefining IP Networking Edge Capabilities

Highest PoE+ port density in a stackable form factor:

Compact 1U form factor with 24 or 48 10/100/1000 port density and an optional 10 GbE module for high-performance connectivity

Future-ready PoE+ enabled at no additional cost, delivering 30 watts of power per port (approximately twice the current standard)Future-ready flexibility:

Alignment with today's dynamic business requirements through seamless expandability with stacking capabilities and future-ready benefits for next-generation campus edge convergence applications

High scalability with the capability to stack up to eight physical switches into a single logical switch, providing "pay-as-you-grow" flexibility

Advanced capabilities, such as full IPv4 Layer 3 routing, as network requirements expand

Quotes"Modern data center and enterprise network solutions must be assessed across an extensive set of attributes, such as performance, reliability, scalability, end-to-end efficiency, security, and total cost of ownership," said Matthias Machowinski, directing analyst, enterprise voice and data for Infonetics Research. "The Brocade TurboIron 24X addresses all of these attributes and is available at a very compelling price point, giving buyers a great choice to manage their mission-critical data center and computing requirements."

"Standard Power over Ethernet has allowed organizations to streamline the deployment and operation of wireless access points, IP phones, and IP video surveillance cameras," said Matthias Machowinski, directing analyst, enterprise voice and data for Infonetics Research. "The main application for PoE Plus today is pan/tilt/zoom IP video cameras, but as part of a research study I recently conducted, there will likely be a slew of new devices taking advantage of the additional power. By selecting PoE Plus capable switches, buyers can ensure that their networks can handle their future needs."

"Continuous innovation, performance, and quality are important brand attributes we value at Brocade," said Marc Randall, senior vice president of products and offerings for Brocade. "Today's introduction of IP networking solutions, ranging from the data center to the campus edge, is further proof we are committed to delivering end-to-end networking solutions for service providers and enterprises worldwide. These new IP networking solutions provide the advanced application delivery, data center connectivity, and enterprise campus capabilities necessary to build next-generation networks."
