Gateway Debuts Three New Servers

Gateway rolled out three new servers Tuesday, including a four-way system based on Intel's Xeon processors for under $4,000, and a pair of network attached storage servers priced below $2,200.

The Irvine, Calif.-based computer maker's newest offerings include the Gateway 9715 server, 9315 storage server, and 9415 storage server, all, said Gateway, aimed at schools, government agencies, and small businesses.

The rack-mounted 6U-format 9715 supports up to four 64-bit Xeon processors, can pack in as much as 32GB of memory, and is equipped with redundant, hot-swap power supplies and fans, as well as hot-plug PCI slots and memory. The server is priced starting at $3,999, and runs Microsoft Windows Server, Novell's Netware 6.5, Red Hat Linux Enterprise 3.0 and 3.0 EM64T, and Novel's SuSE Linux Enterprise 9.0 and 9.0 EM64T operating systems.

Two new storage servers, the 9315 and 9415, offer three Serial ATA and SCSI drives, respectively, with up to 1.2 terabytes of internal capacity for the 9315 and 900GB for the 9415. Like the 9715, the two new storage servers run Intel's Xeon -- one- or two-way configurations are available -- and both boxes rely on Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003.

Prices for the 9315 begin at $2,197, while the 9415 starts at $2,098.All three servers can be purchased immediately from Gateway through its online store.
