Boston, January 11, 2009  Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), an information management services company, today announced an update to its Connected backup for PC solution to support Microsoft Windows 7 users. The upgrade, Version 8.4, will also include support for litigation discovery and is available now for license. The subscription version of the service will be available March 2010.

"Iron Mountain is committed to meeting and leading our customers' evolving information management needs that come with the development of new technology," said Ramana Venkata, president of Iron Mountain Digital. "The latest version of Iron Mountain's Connected backup solution offers compatibility with new platforms being deployed by customers to ensure their data is protected - regardless of platform. The optional litigation discovery support will also help customers stay current with increasingly rigid demands for compliance."

"For the past seven years, we have relied on Iron Mountain's Connected backup solution to easily and securely back up, store and retrieve our company's PC data and to significantly reduce the burden placed on our IT resources," said Matt McKim, technology architect, Cerner. "Each time a new platform is made available, there is a challenge to ensure all of our resources are able to support the platform so that our IT administration continues to operate seamlessly. Knowing that Iron Mountain's Connected solution now supports the new Microsoft Windows 7 platform migration enables us to protect our business data so that we can focus on mission critical objectives."

"Microsoft is excited to work with companies such as Iron Mountain to better serve the needs of enterprise customers as they make the transition to Windows 7," said Alex Pombo, senior director of ISV partners for Microsoft Corp. "With Windows 7 and the new version of the Connected backup solution from Iron Mountain, business customers can more confidently manage and protect their PC data."

Iron Mountain's Connected backup solution offers complete security of PC and laptop data, using industry-standard encryption and administrative controls to ensure that data is always protected, whether on premises or using Iron Mountain's services. The solution's patented data reduction technologies, SendOnce and DeltaBlock, reduce storage needs by up to 85 percent. All data is transmitted and stored in a compressed format to reduce network loads and minimize storage needs. The EmailOptimizer option can reduce storage requirements for Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes applications by recognizing duplicate email attachments and storing them only once, significantly reducing storage requirements and simplifying recovery.
