SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Super Micro Computer, Inc. , a leader in application-optimized, high performance server and workstation solutions, today introduced its new server/storage solutions truly optimized for small office, home office (SOHO) environments. Featuring Supermicro's new toolless mini-tower chassis, the cost-effective and whisper-quiet SuperServer 5035L-iB facilitates quick-and-easy installation while delivering superior energy-efficient operation.

"For the first time, customers have the opportunity to choose a truly optimized SOHO server and storage solution that features Supermicro's enterprise-level quality and technology at a highly affordable price point," said Charles Liang, CEO and president of Supermicro. "For example, the SuperServer 5035L's high-efficiency 300-watt power supply achieves levels of energy efficiency previously available only in enterprise server installations."

Supermicro, a leader in green computing technology, is the APAC regional chair of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative (CSCI), whose goal is to reduce global computer power consumption 50% by 2010. The high-efficiency 300-watt power supply in Supermicro's new SOHO server/storage solutions has earned the 80-Plus(R) Bronze level certification, meaning it achieves 85%+ power efficiency. This earth-friendly, energy-efficient system saves energy and significantly reduces end-users total cost of ownership (TCO).

In addition to its 300-watt 80-Plus Bronze power supply, the system's new mini-tower chassis (SC731i-300B) also includes a host of user-friendly design features for easy installation. These quick-and-easy features include a toolless side panel, toolless drive bays, 90-degree pivoting hard disk drive cage, and stamped motherboard support (no standoffs required). Besides four 3.5" internal drive bays, the system also supports two external 5.25" bays, four I/O expansion slots, a toolless rear 9 cm pulse-width modulated fan for optimized cooling and Kensington lock security to safeguard the system. Its small footprint makes it perfect for office or home installations.

The SuperServer 5035L-iB is powered by Supermicro's new X7SLM-L single-processor serverboard, which is a long-life platform with up to seven years of chipset availability and support. This cost-effective platform delivers data security, reliability and performance with RAID support for up to four SATA (3.0 Gb/s) drives. The X7SLM-L supports both an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 and a PCI-Express x16 graphics connector. This micro-ATX (9.6" x 8.6") serverboard also features a PCI-Express x8 and two legacy PCI slots, an IDE connector, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, and eight USB 2.0 connectors.Super Micro Computer Inc.
