LOWELL, Mass. -- Acopia NetworksR, Inc., the leader in high-performance intelligent file virtualization, today announced that WebEx, the leading provider of on-demand applications for collaborative business on the web, has chosen to deploy Acopia ARX systems, to support its data tiering initiatives.

Today, the ARX systems are being used by WebEx to move less active data from Tier 1 storage to a less expensive Tier 2 platform. This has allowed WebEx to reclaim high-performance storage resources and defer the purchase of additional Tier 1 disk storage. Instead, WebEx has been able to purchase significantly less expensive disk storage to support its Tier 2 data.

"We were looking for a new approach to managing our storage resources," said Karloz Abad Santos, senior systems administrator, WebEx. "We were comfortable with Acopia's use of industry standard technology and support for both NFS and CIFS protocols. During our lab tests, we found Acopia offered excellent manageability and ease of use. Additionally, the ARX gives us the freedom to archive data to virtually any storage medium rather than being locked-in to a specific approach."
