LONGMONT, Colo. -- COPAN Systems, the provider of the industrys only purpose-built data platform for Persistent Data, today announced it has entered into a strategic relationship with Quantum Corp., the leading global specialist in backup, recovery and archive to deliver a file-based archive data management solution for unstructured data.

This new solution enables organizations to archive up to 896TB of file-based, persistent (non changing, fixed or static) data in a cabinet with an industry-leading footprint of under 1m2 (square meter).

Specifically engineered for government and Global 5000 companies, the combined solution consists of Quantum’s StorNext® Data Management Software and COPAN Systems’ Enterprise MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) disk-based storage. This unprecedented file-based density allows organizations to store and share a high-speed pool of digital assets including media content and captured data.

Quantum and COPAN Systems already share customers that are using the new solution, including organizations in the government space, as well as the Media and Entertainment industry. The combined solution is offered by COPAN through its direct sales force and channel partners.

“Quantum’s StorNext provides a seamless capability for fast data access to enormous amounts of digital information,” says David J. Donald, CEO, Keeper Technology. “Our customers have already deployed this unique solution leveraging COPAN’s persistent data platform, which is also designed to store and manage enormous amounts of data.” Donald continues, “Access is provided through the StorNext File System from Tier-1 disk, typically high-speed Fibre Channel-based RAID systems containing ‘dynamic’ data. StorNext Storage Manager extends this capacity to a COPAN platform allowing our shared customers in the Federal sector substantial file-based scalability.”Copan Systems Inc.
