HOPKINTON, Mass. -- EMC Corporation, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced that the city of Zagreb, Croatia's capital, used EMC NetWorker(TM) and EMC Backup Advisor software to centralize and optimize the recovery of critical applications and analysis of its storage area network backup environment. EMC's recovery management software has enabled the city to alleviate previously frequent disruptions and downtimes, achieve considerable cost savings and reduce the amount of time needed for daily backups.

Igor Plavcic, Operations Manager of the City of Zagreb, said, "We were in the process of moving to a paperless work environment in each of our 20 offices. As a result, we saw a significant increase in the amount of information that put pressure on our existing infrastructure, especially the backup systems. As we added more applications to the business, our existing backup system became even more ineffective."
