LAN/WLAN test equipment market revenues will increase at an annual rate of 6.8 percent and grow from $731.8 million in 2004 to $1.2 billion by 2011, according to a recent study by Frost & Sullivan.

The rapid growth is being fueled by newer technologies including VoIP, Gigabit Ethernet, wireless LANs, and VPNs.

The Asian Pacific market also plays role in the growth because it generates more revenue for the market than anywhere else in the world. The region will double in size in 2011 to $355.1 million with a 10 percent growth, according to Frost & Sullivan.

Frost & Sullivan named Network General as the uncontested market leader for the fourth consecutive year. Network General dominates the market with 33.5 percent of the LAN/WLAN installation, maintenance and monitoring market, according to the report.
