SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Riverbed Technology, Inc. (NasdaqGS:RVBD - News), the technology and market leader in wide-area data services (WDS), today announced that Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon (BWSC), a 400-person multidiscipline design firm offering engineering, architecture, planning and surveying services, has deployed Riverbed Steelhead® appliances and Steelhead Mobile client software for application acceleration and IT consolidation at its 12 offices across the United States.

Deploying the Steelhead Mobile client software has facilitated collaboration among BWSC employees through accelerated application speed and access to data from employee laptops, regardless of location. As a result, BWSC employees, who are frequently mobile and working from a client or job site, can remain as connected with their colleagues as if they were in the main office. BWSC plans to increase Steelhead Mobile licenses throughout 2008, so that additional employees can seamlessly collaborate with team members while mobile.

Riverbed's WDS solutions have enabled BWSC to meet their "One Firm" initiative -- to provide the same user experience in each office, no matter the size -- through improved collaboration and application response time. BWSC calculates that Riverbed solutions have increased productivity for the firm's 140 CAD file users by 46.7 minutes per user, per month.

BWSC is committed to providing a seamless user experience at each of its 12 office locations, which have anywhere from 20 to several hundred engineers, architects, and support staff. The company uses Bentley MicroStation and ProjectWise technology to enable collaboration among employees in different offices and sought to accelerate the transfer and sharing of large CAD files and other content over its network. After the implementation of Riverbed WDS solutions, BWSC saw dramatic application performance improvement on ProjectWise, helping to increase user productivity. Based on the increased productivity of its 140 CAD users alone, BWSC estimates that the Riverbed solution will have paid for itself in approximately eight months.

"Riverbed's WDS solutions are completely in line with our 'One Firm' philosophy to bridge different offices to ensure a more transparent, productive, and efficient working environment. After implementing the Riverbed solution, sharing large files, such as CAD files that our architects and engineers depend on, became a much more fluid and effortless process and we saw a huge decrease in file transfer time," said Phil Newby, IT manager at BWSC. "Collaborating with other team members, no matter where each individual is located, is imperative in our industry, and the Riverbed Steelhead Mobile solutions make it possible -- and simple. The Steelhead appliances were painless to deploy and are simple to use."Riverbed Technology Inc.
