SUMMIT, N.J. -- Nearly every mid- to large-sized enterprise has experienced the effects of disk contention and latency; however, the majority of IT directors and CIOs continue to heavily invest in more magnetic disk. That is, until now. Today, WhipTail Technologies LLC, a provider of solid-state storage appliances founded in December 2008, announced the launch of its WhipTail™ product – a Citrix Ready™, patent-pending solid-state storage appliance that provides companies with a unique alternative that maximizes throughput; solves disk contention issues; and simplifies management of transaction-intensive and mission-critical applications, such as order processing, e-commerce, data-intensive report generation and record retrieval.

More specifically, when compared with traditional storage, WhipTail units:

  • Accelerate the delivery of data by a factor of 10

  • Reduce report run time by a factor of 10

  • Provide up to a 90 percent energy savings

  • Reduce the data center footprint by 60 percent

  • Reduce database report generation and load time by 90 percent

"Due to complexity, power limitations, cooling issues and capital costs, most managers never size their magnetic disks to provide optimum performance – leaving them with underperforming systems and limiting overall business flexibility. As a result, critical decisions are being made based on lagging indicators," said Ed Rebholz, CEO of WhipTail Technologies. "WhipTail provides a solution to these problems that not only works, but is also cost-effective. There's really nothing else like it on the market."
