MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- NetLogic Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: NETL), the leader in the design and development of knowledge-based processors and high-speed integrated circuits, today announced it is showcasing its market-leading 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GE) PHY products at the Ethernet Alliance booth (#1567) at the INTEROP Las Vegas 2008 tradeshow at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, from April 29 to May 1. NetLogic Microsystems is demonstrating its AEL2005 device with integrated Electronic Dispersion Compensation (EDC) for SFP+ 10GBASE-LRM applications, as well as its AEL3005 device with integrated EDC and Forward Error Correction (FEC) for 10GBASE-KR backplane applications.

NetLogic Microsystems is demonstrating the interoperability of its AEL2005 device with leading SFP+ modules from Avago Technologies, Finisar Corporation, Opnext, Inc. and Tyco Electronics Corporation using both optical and twinax copper links. NetLogic Microsystems AEL2005 SFP+ device has achieved successful interoperability with other leading vendors of 10GE PHY technology such as AMCC and Broadcom in both SR and LR mode, as well as for tests conducted with over 270 meters of OM3 multi-mode fiber and 10km of single-mode fiber.

NetLogic Microsystems’ 10GBASE-LRM compliant AEL2005 device, which is shipping to several Tier One customers, is a highly integrated PHY product with full PCS, PMA and XGXS sub-layer functionality, and offers significant power and associated system cost savings for high-density datacenter switch designs. In addition to an integrated EDC engine that supports both 10GBASE-SR/LR and 10GBASE-LRM, the AEL2005 device also employs 3-tap transmission pre-emphasis that is robust enough to equalize cable/channel losses of over 20dB. This allows system designers to use a single solution for linear and limiting SFP+ modules, as well as for twinax copper physical media attach options.

The AEL3005 device is designed for 10GBASE-KR (IEEE802.3ap) backplane applications with an integrated FEC, EDC and 3-tap 10-Gigabit transmission pre-emphasis. The device features NetLogic Microsystems’ innovative low-power FEC technology with a low-latency encoder/decoder function that is fully compliant to the IEEE802.3ap standard. Furthermore, the AEL3005 device integrates several enhanced error statistics reporting functions, as well as standard BIST functions such as pattern generators and checkers. The AEL3005 device has been production released and is available in 10x10mm and 15x15mm packages.

“Widespread industry acceptance of the AEL2005, our latest SFP+ PHY device, has resulted in several recent designs in the emerging datacenter Ethernet application space,” said Stefanos Sidiropoulos, vice-president of the Physical Layer Products Group at NetLogic Microsystems. “We are excited to be showcasing our successful interoperability with leading SFP+ module, PHY and switching vendors.”NetLogic Microsystems Inc.
