CA unveiled new software today to help system administrators understand the effect in real-time that its SiteMinder identity and access management solution has on application transaction performance.

The new Wily Manager for SiteMinder Web Access Manager, an extension of its Wily Introscope application management software, tracks SiteMinder transactions through the login and authentication process. The vendor says this will give administrators an accurate picture of the performance effect SiteMinder Web server agents, application server agents and CA TransactionMinder agents have on applications.

The vendor says this information effectively provides an early warning system for administrators to isolate and resolve performance issues before they have a serious impact on transaction times. CA says the tool delivers data that security and application support teams need to work together to ensure the business achieves both its productivity and security objectives.

Wily Manager for SiteMinder also captures SiteMinder Policy Server statistics including version, port, cache availability and cache size for Policy Server and individual SiteMinder agents. These statistics allow the tool to clock individual SiteMinder transaction times and report overall enterprise performance metrics to CA Wily Introscope.Analysts say the tool will benefit CA customers by giving them an important perspective on application performance. CA customers who use both CA SiteMinder and Introscope can correlate SiteMinder performance metrics with the end-to-end application performance management data Introscope supplies to get an accurate performance picture, says Jasmine Noel, principal analyst at Ptak, Noel and Associates.
