- OPNET Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPNT), a leading provider ofsolutions for managing networks and applications, today announced ACELive VMon, a new solution for end-user experience monitoring thatextends the visibility of application performance management intocommunications among virtual servers.

ACE Live is anend-to-end solution that spans monitoring, measurement, and detectionof application performance violations, providing visibility of alltransactions and users across the enterprise. The newest addition tothe ACE Live family, ACE Live VMon, is deployed within a virtualmachine and monitors communications to and from all the virtual serversrunning within a physical server.

With the introductionof more powerful servers, increasing numbers of virtual servers arebeing consolidated onto fewer platforms. Virtualization offerssignificant benefits, including reduced operating costs and greaterflexibility in deploying applications. However, vital applicationperformance management functions can be hindered because mostmanagement solutions lack visibility into communications among virtualservers residing within the same physical machine.

ACELive VMon restores visibility of all the communications for theapplications that are hosted on virtual servers, includingcommunications within the physical server as well as traffic to andfrom systems outside the physical server. It offers the same industryleading real-time monitoring and troubleshooting as OPNET'shardware-based ACE Live appliances, with analytics that automaticallyidentify the root cause of application performance problems. ACE LiveVMon offers a lower total cost of operation (TCO) than other solutionsthat require an external appliance for analyzing data, offering reducedpower consumption and a smaller footprint.

"ACE Live VMonrepresents the latest step in OPNET's strategy to ensure that itsend-to-end application performance management solutions address theparticular challenges of virtual computing environments", stated AlainCohen, President and CTO of OPNET. "Recently OPNET also released OPNETPanorama??? 6.0, a solution for real-time monitoring of Java and .NETapplications with new and unique capabilities for fine-grain monitoringof resources and application behavior in VMware environments."

Thefirst release of ACE Live VMon will run under VMware ESX and VMwareESXi. For more information about ACE Live VMon, please visit:  www.opnet.com/ACE_Live_VMon
