MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Reconnex, the expert in information protection, today announced that it has integrated itsleading-edge content monitoring platform with Extreme Networks, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: EXTR) Ethernet switching solutions to provide customers real-time security with policy enforcement. Reconnex has leveraged Extreme Networks' open security framework and extensible operating system, ExtremeXOS(TM), to allow enterprises to take policy-based action to help prevent intellectual property and confidential data from leaving corporate networks.
The Reconnex iGuard is a high-performance appliance that protects inbound and outbound traffic at gigabit speeds, allowing enterprises to discover, monitor, and capture network content and to perform searches on the captured content to detect previously unknown security threats. The Reconnex iGuard will communicate directly with Extreme Networks' high-performance BlackDiamond(R) switch via an extensible XML interface, allowing the switch to take action on security violations as they happen.
"Extreme Networks' open and extensible network software platform, based on our ExtremeXOS operating system, presents a unique opportunity for the Reconnex iGuard appliance to deliver enterprise-class scalability and performance that leverages the network infrastructure to monitor and then enforce policies," said Herb Schneider, co-founder and senior vice president of research and development for Extreme Networks. "Because the Reconnex iGuard can monitor inbound and outbound information across all protocols, communications channels, and file types, it presents one of the few content protection appliances that provide real-time enforcement of security policies for sensitive and private data."
