SEATTLE -- Isilon Systems [NASDAQ: ISLN], the leader in clustered storage, today announced that Isilon IQ clustered storage systems have been tested for interoperability with Enterprise Vault™ from Symantec Corporation, a global leader in infrastructure software and information security. This new certification enables joint customers to leverage a highly reliable and scalable data archiving solution by combining Symantec's enterprise-class data archiving software with Isilon's award-winning clustered storage systems, delivering an automated, 'pay as you grow' archive and retrieval solution for enterprise businesses' critical data assets. By leveraging Isilon IQ, featuring its OneFS® operating system software and unique clustered architecture, with Enterprise Vault, customers can significantly improve the reliability and efficiency of their data archiving operations and maximize the value of their business information.

As a member of the Symantec Technology Enabled Program (STEP), Isilon's OneFS operating system software for clustered storage systems has been tested and achieved certification with Enterprise Vault software, enabling customers to seamlessly archive and protect data while reducing cost and complexity within storage environments. By deploying Isilon IQ as the archive target for Symantec Enterprise Vault, customers can consolidate and archive critical data into one, easily expandable, central repository - accelerating the storage, management and discovery of corporate information. Additionally, this solution provides automated integration and data backup between the online environment and the archived storage library to streamline the retrieval of data assets.

"Symantec Enterprise Vault software delivers an archiving platform that stores, manages and enables discovery of corporate data, while reducing costs and simplifying management," said Simon Jelley, Director of Product Management for Enterprise Vault, Symantec Corporation. "Isilon's unique OneFS operating system for its clustered storage systems aligns with our value proposition, and when combined with Enterprise Vault software, can help streamline the archival of critical business information while reducing overall cost and complexity. This offering provides customers with improved reliability, scalability and process automation for end-to-end data archive operations in enterprise environments."

"With growing data volume, increasing threats to data security, and ongoing application performance issues, many enterprises today are dealing with tough database management challenges. Information and knowledge management professionals should devise a database archiving strategy that moves inactive data to lower-cost storage and servers, thus improving the manageability, performance, and security of critical production applications."
