CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced the newest version of the Symantec Security Awareness Program, a comprehensive employee training program designed to help organizations build a more security conscious workforce. The latest version from Symantec Education Services is an efficient training program that includes curriculum to help customers protect against data breaches, demonstrate regulatory compliance and reduce risks associated with employee behavior that could negatively impact their brand reputation. As organizations combat an increasingly sophisticated threat landscape and feel potential impacts to IT staffing due to the economic environment, employees remain the strongest defense in protecting an organization's information.

"With today's open IT infrastructure, along with increased use of social networking and Web 2.0 applications within the enterprise, employees have unconsciously become the ultimate security back door and target of many silent attacks that expose organizations to data loss," said Irida Xheneti, Security Services research analyst, IDC Research. "Through a comprehensive security awareness program, organizations can build awareness around internal security vulnerabilities, proactively enable their employees to carefully consider the security implications of their online activities and ultimately strengthen risk management policies."
