LOCHRISTI, Belgium -- A-Server, a specialist in datacenter virtualization, has launched its Datacenter-as-a-Service (www.DAAS.com) offering to service providers, to allow them to create, manage and deliver low cost and flexible cloud computing services. DAAS.com is based on Sun Microsystems hardware.

"DAAS.com is now available for deployment by service providers either from their own data centres or as a managed installation within the DAAS.com European Data Centre" comments Arvid Fossen, Director of Product Management and DAAS.com, "We are also in the final stages of deploying our first major external service provider sites and we expect commercial availability from our service provider partners to commence in the second quarter of this year." Unlike traditional hosting services, DAAS.com allows service providers to create flexible private datacenter designs suitable for reliable and scalable cloud computing services. Based on price comparison with similar services from for example Amazon, Fossen estimates a cost reduction of approximately 60% due to its powerful provisioning and management system with more efficient utilisation techniques that drive down operational costs. DAAS.com is only available through service providers to enable them to create highly tailored and profitable value added services for end clients.
