CA (NSDQ: CA) reported Monday that it is acquiring privately held NetQoS for $200 million in cash and plans to combine NetQoS' Performance Center with CA's eHealth Network Performance Manager and Spectrum Infrastructure Manager.

The agreement, CA said, is expected to be slightly dilutive in fiscal 2010 and the acquisition should be completed by the end of this calendar year.

"With the addition of the NetQoS network flow monitoring, unified communications management, and response time analytic network solutions, CA will further strengthen its ability to help enterprise IT organizations and service providers," said Ajei Gopal executive VP of CA's products and technology group, in a statement.

The merging of CA and NetQoS assets, said CA, will provide CIOs and network engineers and operations managers better visibility and control of many critical services. CA's Wily Application Performance Management will be linked with the NetQoS Performance Center and will provide users with wide application visibility for their business and IT services.

The jewel in NetQoS' crown of services and applications is its Performance Center, which was recently upgraded with improved data collection, analysis, and reporting capabilities. Performance Center 5.0 features a connector for Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) Excel, an application performance dashboard, and maps with real-time event notification.CA added that the acquisition will boost its cloud management capabilities, because the new collaborative services will deliver a robust level of network and systems traffic management. It will also build on the cloud services that CA picked up when it acquired Cassatt earlier this year.
