Nirvanix Enters Enterprise Market
Nirvanix expands 'cloud' coverage to online enterprise storage, backup, and archiving
June 10, 2008
SAN DIEGO -- Nirvanix, the premier Cloud Storage” platform provider, today announced the commercial availability of its Storage Delivery Network (SDN) for Enterprises, providing large companies with an unmatched archival and backup storage solution that simplifies management and reduces the costs typically associated with storage server management in a set of pre-packaged solutions.
Nirvanix’s enterprise offering provides companies with more than 5TBs of data in a highly scalable storage and delivery platform that satisfies even the most-demanding, business-critical needs, including:
Breakthrough Economics – Depending on a company’s current storage architecture, the SDN can save 50-90 percent per annum in total OPEX and CAPEX expenditures for data archive and desktop backup applications.
Security and Reliability – SSL, strong password authentication and de-identified physical file information prevents access to data without a three-step key. A 256-bit AES encryption client is offered as an application for additional security
High Availability – Automated file replication to multiple locations around the world ensures data is not vulnerable to a single point of failure. Up to a 100 percent Service Level Agreement is available depending on business needs. This is an industry first.
Versatile Ingestion Tools – With an FTP Proxy, virtual CIFS/NFS drive mounts, an open API for custom applications and the ability to accommodate local ingestion requests, Nirvanix can meet the varied needs of the enterprise.
Enterprise-Class Support – Direct access to a Nirvanix account executive and sales engineering staff 7/24 is available.
Additional advantages over online storage offerings from other vendors include a maximum file size of 256 GB as opposed to the 5 GB maximum imposed by others; automated file replication for enterprise-class availability; enterprise-grade ingestion tools including virtual CIFS/NFS drive mounts and cross-connect services; clustered geo-node architecture for improved download performance and integrated media processing functionality for image resizing and rotating, and audio and video transcoding, scaling and frame extraction.
“The ability to safely and efficiently store and archive large data sets without the time, complexity and costs of managing server hardware is an ideal situation for companies of any and all sizes,” said Patrick Harr, Nirvanix’s Chief Executive Officer. “But, until now, the ability to deliver that solution to the largest customers remained elusive as many attempts at providing cloud storage to enterprises lacked the necessary services required in this unique market. With the peace of mind enabled by Nirvanix’s security and guaranteed reliability/availability, along with the industry’s only 100% SLA, enterprises can now store their archival data in the cloud without worry of outages or downtime.”Nirvanix Inc.
