SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Brocade(R) (NASDAQ:BRCD), the leader in networked storage solutions that help enterprises connect and manage their information, today announced that it is one of the early members of the new Green Storage Initiative launched this week by the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA). As a member of the Initiative, Brocade will work within the SNIA to promote development and education around energy- efficient storage networking solutions that minimize the environmental impact of data center operations.

"Brocade is dedicated to helping our customers realize greater energy efficiencies in their data centers," said Tom Clark, Brocade representative for the SNIA Green Storage Initiative. "We see the efforts of key industry organizations, such as the SNIA, as important vehicles for making that happen."

Brocade is working to help promote data center efficiencies throughout its entire portfolio of energy-efficient data networking solutions. Compared to competitive offerings, the Brocade 48000 Director generates only a third of the heat, requires less cooling, and leaves more power for other devices in a rack configuration. Additionally, Brocade products support and simplifyhigh- performance data migration across heterogeneous environments and enable cost- effective, centralized information management.
