CA announced Friday that its security, storage, and systems management lines will allow customers and partners to reap all of the benefits of the new platform's features immediately.

IBM's z/VM 5.2 platform improves scalability for virtualization in System z9 and zSeries environments, including Linux guests, while extending the systems as platforms for integrating applications and data. It also allows consolidation of select UNIX, Windows, and Linux workloads on a single server.

CA worked with IBM during early testing for v/VM 5.2. The Compatibility Matrix for the z/VM5.2 provides for efficient use of data center resources, reduced ownership costs, alignment for changing business requirements and critical systems security, according to CA.

"CA continues top keep current with IBM's releases, which is important to us because z/VM is strategic for our organization," Rich Resnick, manager of systems and operations at University Community Hospital in Tampa, Fla., said in a statement.
