MOORESTOWN, N.J. -- Formation, Inc. announced today a 33% increase in storage capacity for its ToughDisk(R) 7200-SATA Rugged Hard Disk, creating the industry's highest capacity, hot-swappable, self-contained rugged COTS diskpack. The units now offer 320GBs of storage capacity, up from 240GBs.

Formation's ToughDisk rugged hard disks are low-cost alternatives to solid-state data storage built specifically for extreme environments. The systems have been favored by all branches of the United States military and many commercial organizations for their ability to perform reliably in temperature, altitude, shock, vibration, humidity, and dust conditions that would destroy conventional hard disks, at less than 10% the cost of solid- state storage.

"Formation has a close working relationship with the major disk drive manufacturers, which enables us to synchronize our product enhancements with their product development roadmap. Also, we are able to obtain units for testing prior to the release of new products to the general market place,"says Gene Lovely, Formation's director of business development. "This relationship enables us to include the highest-capacity, best-of-breed,COTS- standard drives available in our ToughDisk products to meet the high-capacity, high-performance data storage needs of today's commercial and defense applications."
