FLORHAM PARK, N.J., June 22. Global Crossing, a leading global IP solutions provider, today announced that it has enhanced its Content Delivery Network (CDN) product portfolio by adding the latest version of the Limelight SITE service to its capabilities.

Limelight SITE is a web acceleration solution from Limelight Networks that effortlessly delivers all the static and dynamic elements -- such as JavaScript objects, style sheets, rich media, or personalization elements -- that make up a web site, from a one-page product overview to a 10-minute training video. The latest release offers added control over cache management, Secure Sockets Layer support, increased failover options, and integrated content security options.

The service also includes OriginDirect technology, which accelerates traffic by routing it over Limelight Networks' private, network-based infrastructure, rather than through the congested "middle-mile" of the Internet. This enables consistent, high-fidelity performance of static, dynamic, personalized, and rich media content.

This newest version of Limelight SITE is designed to address the evolving requirements of Global 1000 financial and public sector customers, as well as enterprise IT departments and operators of e-commerce storefronts by accelerating the performance and lowering the unit cost of delivering static, dynamic, and rich media content. Limelight SITE helps increase visitor loyalty and reduces operating costs by providing a consistent web experience from any location.

"We've combined the advantages of our industry-leading global IP backbone with Limelight's market-leading web site acceleration services to help enterprises establish a more effective one-to-one relationship with customers, partners, and prospects," said Debra Swann, vice president of marketing with Global Crossing. "This new capability will further help our customers reduce their costs and improve the efficiency and consistency of the web experience they provide their end users."Global Crossing's CDN service is offered in conjunction with leading content providers, including Limelight Networks. This multi-vendor approach gives Global Crossing's enterprise customers the flexibility to use the appropriate technology required to meet their specific content needs. It also enables the company to offer customers industry-leading solutions for the delivery of rich media content and enterprise applications. This approach improves customer satisfaction and allows Global Crossing to help its customers select the right CDN solution for the appropriate business requirement. Businesses often employ multiple CDNs to take advantage of best-in-class services for specific requirements.

A CDN enhances and speeds the experience of users who watch a high-definition movie, make an online purchase, listen to music, play a video game, or download a software package over the Internet.

Limelight's flexible architecture includes a dedicated optical network that interconnects thousands of servers around the world with more than 900 last-mile access networks. The company also manages an ecosystem of more than 100 partners that extend the functionality of its platform through Limelight-provided open programming interfaces. This network-based, best-of-breed approach provides customers with the ability to lower infrastructure costs while increasing retention, end-user satisfaction, and average revenue per user.
