SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- RAID storage expert Infortrend today announced that the Hitachi Global Storage Technologies one-terabyte* (1TB) Serial ATA (SATA) Ultrastar® A7K1000 hard drive has successfully completed qualification testing for use with Infortrend’s latest EonStor RAID subsystems.** The new Ultrastar A7K1000 drive is optimized for enterprise-class reliability and performance for 24x7 business-critical applications.

Combining an EonStor array with the Ultrastar 1TB storage capacity provides a simple and cost-effective solution for tiered and nearline storage, disk-to-disk backup, network attached storage (NAS), and data warehousing. Systems integrators can now incorporate the new drive into their customers’ RAID storage systems for audio video (AV) or any other data-intensive environment where large capacities and a lower per-gigabyte cost are key requirements.

“Infortrend and Hitachi GST share a commitment to maintaining leadership positions in the data storage market by constantly pushing the limits of capacity and SATA technology,” said Dean Amini, director, enterprise marketing and strategy, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. “By populating high-performance EonStor RAID subsystems with Ultrastar enterprise-class SATA drives, network managers have an ideal solution for high-density storage in the enterprise.”
