Isilion Picks Chelsio Adapters

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Chelsio Communications, Inc., the leading provider of 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) adapters and ASIC solutions, today announced its T3-based 10GbE adapters have been selected by Isilon Systems (NASDAQ: ISLN) to provide the high-speed interconnect for its new Accelerator-x clustered storage extension node, which was introduced this week at IBC2008 in Amsterdam.

Chelsio 10GbE adapters are the highest performing in the industry, and are designed for storage, server and cluster networking applications. Equipped with the Chelsio dual-port 10G CX4 PCI Express S320E-CXA Storage Adapter, the Isilon Accelerator-x enables customers to achieve unprecedented levels of throughput for their clustered storage network.

Underscoring the necessity for next-generation, scale out file storage, a June 2008 report from IDC, entitled "Got Files? The Expanding Options For File Level Storage," estimates that 2008 is an inflection point where disk capacities shipped will be home to more file-level data than block-level data and by 2011, 75 percent of disk storage systems capacity will be shipped to support some sort of file-level data.
