OETA Adds Storage With Omneon

Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) maximizes digital workflows with Omneon's Spectrum server system

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Omneon Video Networks today announcedthat Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA), a PBS affiliate basedin Oklahoma City, has expanded its new Omneon SpectrumT SD/HD media serversystem with the recent purchase of the Omneon ConformToolT, which enablesfull integration of Avid systems into a highly flexible Omneon broadcastserver infrastructure.

OETA first installed Omneon Spectrum server system at its Oklahoma Cityfacilities in 2005, and in 2006 the company added HD capability, along withadditional channels and storage. The server system runs under the control ofSundance Digital Titan automation, and the new implementation of ConformToolintegrates OETA's storage and editing systems more tightly by streamliningthe transfer of files between the Spectrum server and Avid systems.

"We were attracted to the Omneon Spectrum media server because of itsflexible I/O offering, the ability to handle multiple formats, and itsmodular infrastructure, all of which are very useful for the world of publictelevision," said Earle Connors, director of engineering at OETA. "Webroadcast in HDMPEG, DV25, and IMX, so we needed a versatile playoutsolution, and the Spectrum media server has been just that. It has formedthe foundation for our digital playout operations, providing tightintegration with our automation and editing systems."
