ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- QLogic Corp.(Nasdaq:QLGC), the leader in SAN connectivity for bladed servers, todayannounced a collaboration with HP on its breakthrough Virtual Connecttechnology, an industry-changing approach to connecting and adapting server, local area network (LAN) and storage area network (SAN) domains across thedata center.

QLogic, a longtime, trusted technology partner in producing HP BladeSystemmezzanine cards and switches, worked closely with HP to deliver the VirtualConnect Fibre Channel module that is now available for HP BladeSystemc-Class servers. HP's Virtual Connect Ethernet and Fibre Channel modulesdramatically simplify LAN and SAN connections and make IT "change ready." Byreducing cables without adding managed switches and cleanly separating themanagement of server enclosures from LAN and SAN management, the modulesallow administrators to quickly and easily add or remove servers withoutdisrupting business.

"Enterprises tell us about their frustrations with adding, changing ormoving servers. The process involves extensive coordination between storage, network and server administrators," said Jesse Parker, vice president andgeneral manager of QLogic switch products group. "HP's Virtual Connecterases that frustration by making it possible for businesses to connect HPBladeSystem servers and SANs to the network within minutes, allowingbusinesses to pool server resources and focus administrators' time on otherpriorities."
