STILLWATER, Minn. -- The StorageIO Group (www.storageio.com), a leading independent IT industry analyst and consultancy firm, in conjunction with publisher Auerbach Publications/CRC Press, today announced the release of The Green and Virtual Data Center,” a new book by noted author and StorageIO founder Greg Schulz. The book focuses on the idea that IT infrastructure resources configured and deployed in a highly virtualized manner can be combined with other techniques and technologies to achieve a simplified and cost-effective delivery of IT services in a clean, green, and profitable manner. StorageIO is also announcing the launch of www.thegreenandvirtualdatacenter.com, a new website providing information for enabling and deploying eco-friendly next-generation data centers.

“The Green and Virtual Data Center” sets aside the political aspects of what is or is not considered green to examine the opportunities for organizations trying to grow their business while being environmentally friendly in an economically efficient manner. Addressing multiple technology domains and disciplines, it looks at design and implementation tradeoffs using various best practices and technologies to sustain application and business growth while maximizing resources, such as power, cooling, floor space, storage, server performance, and network capacity.
