Forrester just came out with a report saying that despite a 200% increase in adoption in 2004, VoIP is overhyped.Forrester is flat-out wrong. For a start, a 200% increase in adoption rate isn't chopped liver. Enterprises are finding out that VoIP can offer tremendous savings. As for consumers, do you know anyone who doesn't want to save on their monthly phone bill, and get a slew of new features to boot?In fact, VoIP has been such a success that Vonage is said to be planning an IPO, and expects to raise $600 million, in addition to the $400 million it already has in venture capital.One day, and perhaps soon, we'll all be using VoIP instead of normal phone service. And that is no hype.
