LAS VEGAS -- Voltaire Ltd. (NASDAQ: VOLT), a leading provider of grid backbone solutions for data centers, today announced its first certified I/O virtualization solution for VMware environments. Proven, tested and certified through Voltaires new Certified Solutions Program, the solution improves the performance, flexibility and cost savings of VMware environments. Voltaire will showcase the I/O virtualization solution for VMware in booth 1050 at VMworld, September 15-18, 2008, at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev.

Consolidating multiple servers onto a single physical system compounds a server’s network, storage and inter-server I/O needs. To meet the aggregate I/O requirements of virtual machines, Voltaire’s I/O virtualization solution for VMware uses a single multi-purpose, high-speed (20 Gb/sec) adapter to consolidate, virtualize and accelerate a server’s I/O connections. Using a single InfiniBand adapter, rather than multiple Ethernet and Fibre Channel network cards per server, lowers both equipment and power costs for virtualized environments while delivering even faster performance.

“Voltaire’s InfiniBand-based solutions offer hardware-based I/O virtualization capabilities that are a natural complement to VMware’s server virtualization solutions,” said Asaf Somekh, vice president of strategic alliances, Voltaire. “Using Voltaire InfiniBand switches allows customers to create an ultra high-speed fabric and consolidate multiple data, storage and inter-processor communications networks in order to deliver new levels of performance, flexibility and cost savings for VMware environments.”
