Well, my WAFS review went online and to print this week, there are a couple of minor things that I'd like to set straight. First, other vendors WERE invited to the review. Their reasons for non-participation were pretty broad, one was even an eyebrow raiser, but we chose to focus on those who did participate instead of those who didn't. Feel free to drop me an email if you're interested in hearing more, I'll be happy to discuss your favorite vendor with you.

Second, the wording I chose to use regarding Tacit Networks' appliance not having redundant power supplies was very misleading. This was not on purpose, and I'm here to set it straight. Tacit does offer versions of their appliance with redundant power supplies, they did not submit any model that did to us. I left off the "but other models do have redundant power supplies" part. We are clarifying this in the online version of the article.

Third, I also did not mention that Tacit was developing path name transparency at the time we tested. Our reviews are as-tested, but I do try to mention this type of thing in reviews, and in fact did mention in-process developments for other vendors. Every once in a while something slips through the cracks.

Lastly, as always, if you go to our online report card and play with the settings, you can find results that meet your needs. While this will not change who won the review unless you set outrageous settings, it will give you a better idea of what options you have in your environment. This is true of all of our reviews, use our online report card, it's another tool we provide to help you solve your problems.

That's it for me right now, Interop is shaping up to be a good show. I'll blog in my new home, the Security Channel as soon as I can.Don.
