FOLSOM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SynapSense Corporation, a leading provider of wireless instrumentation solutions, today introduced new Adaptive Control technology that provides the world's leading data centers with the ability to continuously align cooling capacity with changes in IT load.

The Adaptive Control technology optimizes cooling capacity and saves up to 35 percent of cooling costs by minimizing the fan energy to meet appropriate data center operating requirements, while maintaining acceptable server inlet temperatures. This allows data center operators to add IT load while avoiding the capital costs associated with incremental cooling capacity.

SynapSense Adaptive Control features the security, redundancy and resiliency expected of an enterprise-scale solution. This unique approach to control leverages the company's wireless sensing technology at a granular level to measure server inlet temperature and sub-floor pressure to dynamically manage the temperature set points and variable fan speeds of Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAHs).

"SynapSense is developing an enterprise-level operating platform for the world's leading data centers, and Adaptive Control is another major component of that platform," said Peter Van Deventer, CEO of SynapSense. "With SynapSense Adaptive Control, data center operators can fully automate cooling of their data centers that results in immediate energy savings and increased efficiency."

The SynapSense platform consists of Environmental Monitoring, Assessment and Optimization, Real Time Power Utilization Effectiveness (PUE) and Energy Management along with Adaptive Control. SynapSense Adaptive Control will be featured at the Uptime Institute Symposium 2010 in New York on May 17th-19th in the SynapSense booth 231.The new Adaptive Control technology complements the company's recently announced Data Center Assessment and Optimization Services. SynapSense is conducting yearly assessments and collaborating with customers to optimize their data centers and target a reduction in cooling energy. The service includes airflow optimization, utility rebate assistance, a return on investment analysis and use of the SynapSense Data Center Monitoring and Energy Management Solution.

SynapSense Data Center Monitoring and Energy Management solutions have been deployed in data centers operated by Fortune 500 companies from Wall Street to Silicon Valley. SynapSense has recently been recognized as a Gold Medal winner in the SearchDataCenter.com 2009 Product of the Year Awards and part of the Global Clean Tech 100 by the UK Guardian and Clean Tech groups. Additionally, BusinessWeek and market researcher, YouNoodle, named the company one of the top 50 technology startups readers should follow.
