Systimax Debuts 10-gigabit Cable For Bandwidth-Hungry Enterprises

Systimax Solutions has released a 10-gigabit Ethernet unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable designed to meet the growing bandwidth needs of enterprises as they move to 10 GbE inftrastructures.

The Systimax GigaSPEED X10D is based on the current Category 6/Class E specification and is compliant with the IEEE 802.3an guidelines including the new IEEE Model No.1 Power Sum Alien Near End Crosstalk (PSANEXT) and Insertion Loss channel specifications. These guidelines are the foundation of pending Class E and Augmented Category 6 cabling standards.

Systimax says that it has evaluated the GigaSPEED X10D performance in what it calls worst-case installation channel test configurations. The company's testers used its Modal Decomposition Modeling (MDM) tool to test the 1,024 interactions between adjacent and individual cabling components in order to greatly reduce alien crosstalk or noise from adjacent cables and connectors.

According to Luc Adriaenssens, vice president, R&D and Technology, Systimax Solutions, the rapid adoption of bandwidth-hungry enterprise applications and networked storage solutions has made new cable technologies essential. "Businesses that use high-bandwidth applications, multi-site collaboration, streaming media and/or distributed processing technologies are highly likely to be early users of 10 Gigabit Ethernet," he said in a statement. "Such businesses could certainly benefit from the high-performance capabilities that the GigaSPEED X10D Solution provides."
