Adaptec on Wednesday unveiled a storage array expressly designed for backing up the local data on company desktops and laptops that escapes copying when business application servers are backed up.
Adaptec's File Saver ESA1500 is a fault-tolerant, high-availability backup appliance that attaches to the network, then automatically backs up data stored on desktop and laptop local drives.
Although enterprises diligently back up data on servers, information stored on local hard drives are often overlooked, said Adaptec, leading to lost data when desktop and laptops crash, and risking violating regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, which mandate long-term retention of records.
The array's storage capacity can be scaled from 1 to 4 terabytes, said Adaptec, and support RAID level 5 protection.
The ESA1500 is available now at prices starting at $6,299.
