HANNOVER, Germany -- Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) (NASDAQ:AMCC) is demonstrating real world hardware RAID technology applications at CeBIT for environments ranging from the desktop to the enterprise. The product demonstrations highlight the performance, value, and storage density offered by the 3ware 9650SE, the latest hardware-based 3ware Serial ATA RAID controller featuring RAID 6. The technology demonstrations will be shown in the AMCC booth at CeBIT in Hannover, March 15-21, in the Networked Storage Solutions Pavilion, Hall 1, Stand G61, and (A01).

AMCC will showcase the first ever Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) technology demonstration showing an AMCC PCI Express to SAS RAID controller working with SAS expanders and drives. The company, already the leading supplier of SATA RAID controllers in the channel, will preview the functionality of 3ware RAID controllers extended to support SAS. The SAS technology demonstration will use Seagate Technology's(R) Cheetah 15K.5 hard drives and SAS expanders, to create a system that delivers expanded connectivity and reliability ideal for highly transactional applications.

"Seagate is pleased to team up with AMCC for its SAS RAID technology demonstration and help continue to drive the rapid adoption of SAS technology," said Sherman Black, senior vice president and general manager of Seagate's Enterprise Compute business. "Seagate's CHEETAH 15K.5 SAS drives joined together with AMCC's SAS RAID controllers deliver a powerful I/O combination of enterprise-level functionality in performance and reliability."
