Archivas Granted Archiving Patent

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Archivas, Inc., the leading provider of digital archiving solutions, today announced it has been granted a new patent for digital archiving technology by the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

Archivas has been granted U.S. Patent No. 7,155,466 for a system that enables an archive to independently manage both scheduled and event-triggered policies. The technology, “policy-based management of a redundant array of independent nodes,” is employed in Archivas Cluster™ (ArC™) software, which provides object-based storage for the long-term preservation and protection of digital assets. An archive object consists of raw archived data, such as a file or email message, plus permanently associated metadata and policy settings, which govern an object's behavior in the archive from its creation through disposition.
