BuzzBites: When Google Sees Too Clearly

India is reportedly lobbying Google to decrease the resolution of images of sensitive locations that can be seen using Google Earth, the search giant's satellite photo service. Image resolutions range from 1 KM per pixel to 6 inches per pixel, Google says.

According to the BBC, the Indian government plans to submit a list that includes military bases and government buildings, detailed images of which could be useful to extremists plotting mayhem. India has been concerned about this issue since 2005, when the service went live. Google, which is in discussions with the Indian government, says it blurs images in exceptional circumstances.
