MINNEAPOLIS -- Ciprico Inc. (NASDAQ: CPCI), a leading provider of intelligent storage software, solutions and appliances, announced today that Chyron Corporation will integrate its RC5252-08 into their new XClyps HD/SD Clip Server. The RC5252-08 is one of Cipricos advanced RAIDCore™RC5000 PCI-X™ and PCI Express® (PCIe™) compatible line of SAS and SATA II RAID controllers.

Ciprico’s enterprise level RC5252-08 eight port PCIe RAID controller will be used to extract the maximum I/O performance from the XClyps server to meet the sustained operational requirements needed for round-the-clock SD and HD broadcast workflows. XClyps enables real-time clip playback in single - or dual-channel video and key, and can store up to 50 hours of SD content or up to 22 hours of HD video in a single system. The clip server will be used for news bumpers, station promos, coming ups, monitor background playback or any application where pristine video, key and audio playback are required.

“Our search for a PCIe RAID controller for two of our real time high reliability broadcast servers turned out to be very frustrating,” said Peter Morrone, Director of Product Management for Chyron. “With all the boards we evaluated, we were forced to make difficult price vs. performance vs. capability tradeoffs and there was no clear winner. However, once we got our hands on the new Ciprico RAIDCore 5000 series board, the combination of uncompromised performance, management capability and incredible price point made the decision clear. The RAIDCore 5000 provides us with a no-compromise solution for our industry leading television broadcast products.”

“We’re pleased to have such a notable company as Chyron join our growing family of RAIDCore users, and that our RAIDCore 5000 series controller met the exacting performance and reliability milestones required for their ‘design-in’ program,” added Steve Merrifield, President and Chief Executive Officer for Ciprico. “The continued market acceptance of our RAIDCore technology is a strong testament to our deep understanding of developing enterprise and digital media grade storage software and hardware solutions. We will continue to drive customer-centric innovation and deliver on our commitment to provide the best-in-class RAID controller technology and storage solutions for our industry verticals.”
