PALO ALTO, Calif. -- HP today announced its enhanced Medical Archive solution, with features to allow healthcare providers and imaging clinics to more quickly access and retain digital images. This will enable cost-effective improvements in patient safety, while adhering to strict governance regulations.

The HP Medical Archive solution is a specialized content archiving appliance that helps healthcare providers ensure their fast-growing medical image data is securely preserved and continuously accessible. The new enhancements include:

Faster time to benefit

HPs simplified software installation provides HP Medical Archive solution customers with faster access to the new software features, allowing them to begin archiving images and studies sooner than before.

The new enhancements provide better availability and access of images by quickly prioritizing a temporary copy or “cache” of images and studies of up to 60 gigabytes in size by file type or data source.Improved data center efficiency

Use of smaller, denser storage servers, along with new image management enhancements allow customers to decrease data center power, space and cooling requirements, with the ability to store up to 160 terabytes per rack. In addition, power, cooling and rack space can be reduced by up to 33 percent with the new 10 terabyte SATA Storage Node.

Simplified information management

With the current enhancements, customers can proactively monitor and manage images from a single, web-based user interface across the different storage tiers. HP Systems Insight Manager and Network Node Manager are now integrated into the HP Medical Archive solution operating system.

“As the size and number of imaging studies increases, healthcare providers need specialized image archiving solutions that enable them to focus on patient safety and care,” said Robin Purohit, vice president and general manager, Information Management, Software, HP. “In addition, regulatory compliance pressures require for hospitals and imaging centers to securely retain access to patient data for longer durations. HP’s new enhancements to the HP Medical Archive solution provide leadership for our customers to address these challenges today and into the future.”Hewlett-Packard Co.
