IDC Suggests HP In Top PC Spot Globally

IDC's preliminary figures suggest Hewlett-Packard grabbed the top spot globally for PC shipments in the fourth quarter of 2003.

IDC has released preliminary figures suggesting that Hewlett-Packard attained the top spot globally for PC shipments in the fourth quarter of 2003.

HP's PC business reportedly grew 21 percent year-over-year. European sales contributed substantially to that growth. In the United States, the technology vendor has grown 19 percent year-over-year. According to HP, the company has grown 40 percent faster than the market on an annual basis for the past three quarters. For the fiscal year ending on Oct. 31, 2003, HP revenue totaled $73.1 billion.
