MPC Computers has introduced a single-processor server with a price tag of less than $1,000. The NetFrame 120 is aimed at small to midsize businesses requiring Web servers, appliance servers or development server. The 1U server is the latest addition to MPC's NetFrame server product line, which ranges from entry-level to enterprise quad-processor offerings.

The NetFrame 120 is available with either an Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron processor. The server supports onboard RAID and has an integrated dual gigabit Ethernet connection for high-speed connectivity. According to the company, new 64-bit PCI-X technology lets faster traffic flow through the PCI bus and provides optimum I/O performance. In addition, the NetFrame 120 includes four DIMM sockets supporting up to 4GB of dual channel DDR SDRAM, to increase system performance and reliability. Three years of on-site service, replacement parts and technical support are part of the standard configuration.
