CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Permabit, Inc., the long-term information retention, retrieval and security company, today announced the availability of litigation support through its Dynamic Information Services platform. The Permabit platform enables organizations to store all of their information in an online information archive that integrates with existing information architectures and makes it easy to quickly locate and retrieve requested information, regardless of where and how it was created.

“Legal discovery requests are a part of everyday business,” said Louis Imershein, Director of Product Management at Permabit. “Newly adopted amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) make delivering a timely response to avoid penalties more critical than ever. At the same time, the discovery process is increasingly difficult given the ever increasing volume and variety of information that must be culled. Permabit eases that pressure by providing a unified platform that works with existing applications, stores data efficiently, and locates information on-demand, all while verifying that the content remains unmodified from the day it was stored.”

The recent FRCP amendments regarding eDiscovery reaffirm the need for many companies to adopt best practices in information management such as:

  • knowing what electronic documents the company keeps, as well as how, where and for how long;

  • managing electronically stored documents under reasonable retention policies; and

  • preserving documents, or putting a litigation “hold” on routine destruction as needed, in the event of litigation or investigation.

Permabit creates an online information archive that integrates with existing information architectures via standard open protocols including CIFS, NFS, and WebDAV. Dynamic Information Services enables users to search for date-specific, context-specific and even phrase-specific information, even across multiple information stores, without impacting operations. The system searches structured application generated information, semi-structured information such as email and instant messaging, as well as unstructured information such as scanned document. A powerful Discovery service developed with industry-leader FAST Search and Transfer makes it easy to respond to requests within imposed timetables.Permabit Inc.
