ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), a leader in networking for storage and high performance computing (HPC), and a member of the Oracle(r) PartnerNetwork, today announced general availability of the QLogic(r) SilverStorm(tm) 9020 Enterprise Cluster Accelerator (ECA). Designed specifically for Oracle Real Application Clusters, the SilverStorm 9020 ECA includes up to 22 Double Data Rate (DDR) 20Gb InfiniBand ports supporting up to 22 hosts in a high performance Oracle Database cluster. The modular SilverStorm 9020 ECA can also be configured with up to four 10Gb Ethernet ports, up to sixteen 4Gb Fibre Channel ports, or a combination of 10Gb Ethernet and 4Gb Fibre Channel ports, for connectivity to high performance storage or data networks. Available in a compact 2U enclosure, the SilverStorm 9020 ECA delivers DDR performance and complete redundancy, yet takes less rack space and power than any competitive InfiniBand director available today.

"The QLogic SilverStorm 9020 ECA is an ideal switch for CMA Consultings' Oracle data warehouse platforms, delivering InfiniBand performance and gateways to Fibre Channel and Ethernet networks for a flexible, cost-effective database clustering solution," said Brian Dougherty, chief data warehouse architect, CMA Consulting, a leading IT consultancy and systems integrator in the Oracle space. "The QLogic 9000 Series of multi-protocol InfiniBand fabric directors is at the core of our high end clustered data warehouse appliances and we are eager to incorporate the SilverStorm 9020 into our product line."

Oracle Real Application Clusters & Reliable Datagram Sockets (RDS)

Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) supports the deployment of a single database across a cluster of servers and uses a shared cache architecture that overcomes the limitations of traditional shared-nothing and shared-disk approaches. Oracle RAC enables highly available and scalable database solutions for business applications in the enterprise.

"The QLogic 9020 Enterprise Cluster Accelerator sets the standard for cost-effective, high performance RAC clusters," noted Jim Olsen, senior director of the Oracle Enterprise Technology Centers in Atlanta and Reston, which use QLogic products for customer Oracle RAC testing with InfiniBand. "Together, Oracle Real Application Clusters and QLogic InfiniBand are an exceptional combination for customers demanding high availability database solutions for their enterprises."QLogic Corp.
