Report: Federal Telecom Spend To Hit $21 Billion By 2009

Homeland Security and DoD will drive spike in demand.

The federal market for telecommunications products and services will grow from $15.2 billion in fiscal 2004 to almost $21 billion in five years, according to a new report from INPUT.

The increase in demand, say analysts, will be driven by a more than 40 percent rise in telecommunications spending by the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense.

"Telecommunications stands out as one of the main technology segments that is seeing increases in near term spending due to homeland security initiatives," said Chris Campbell, a senior analyst with INPUT.
