Researcher Named IEEE Fellow

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. -- SeagateTechnology(R) (NYSE:STX) today announced that Dr. Michael Mallary, a member of the research team at Seagate, was named a Fellow by the IEEE Board of Directors. The IEEE, the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology, is honoring Dr. Mallary for his significant contributions to recording devices, like hard disc drives.

The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the Board of Directors upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth percent of the total voting Institute membership. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement. 268 individuals have been elected to IEEE Fellow for 2007.
