Systimax Solutions and Solarflare announce first standards-compliant 10Gbase-T server adapter public demonstration

RICHARDSON, Texas -- SYSTIMAX Solutions from CommScope (NYSE: CTV), the worldwide leader in structured connectivity solutions, and Solarflare® Communications, a leading provider of high-performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet silicon, announced today the industry’s first public performance demonstration using Solarflare’s Solarstorm™ 10GBASE-T server adapters and the SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED® X10D cabling solution. The demonstration occurred in a demanding alien crosstalk environment to show the robustness of 10 Gigabit Ethernet to 100 meters on unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cabling.

The Solarstorm controller operates at just 2.2 watts, setting the bar for low power. In addition, the company introduced the industry’s first standards-compliant 10GBASE-T server adapter reference design, along with 10GBASE-CX4 and XFP optical server adapter reference designs. Because these reference designs hit the sweet spot of low power, high performance, standards compliance, and simplicity, they will accelerate the adoption of 10 Gigabit Ethernet.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Solarflare® Communications, a leading provider of high-performance Ethernet silicon, announced today that Ixia, a leading, global provider of IP performance test systems is using the Solarflare 10Xpress® PHY products for a 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) test module. By using Solarflare’s standards-compliant PHY in Ixia test equipment, switch vendors will be able to more easily validate the performance of their 10 GbE systems.
