SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Storewiz Inc., the only provider of innovative online storage compression solutions, today announced that it has joined The Green Grid, a global consortium of companies dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and computing ecosystems, that strives for real results and is committed to driving user-centric metrics, technology standards and best practices for use by data center managers worldwide.

With the phenomenal data and hardware growth, power consumption has surfaced as the newest hot-button issue. Deployment of additional hardware in data centers to shoulder more and more storage is leading to dramatic increases in energy needs, leading to greater operational costs due to weight and floor space implications. To avoid the soaring costs of hardware and power, hardware containment is critical. Reducing the amount of data that needs to be stored in the first place can prevent surging costs. A data compression solution such as the STN-6000 enables an organization to absorb additional data without additional hardware deployments, while addressing the ensuing power consumption challenges.

“We consider it an honor to take part in an organization that promotes such an important cause, and hope that with our product, we can contribute to The Green Grid’s mission of lessening dependence on power consumption in the data center through the simple-yet-effective method of reducing the amount of information to be stored in the first place,” said Gal Naor, CEO of Storewiz. “By enabling the storage of up to five times the data on the same storage hardware, we are able to positively impact the amount of hardware running and management associated with data storage today while providing the ultimate benefit of improved energy efficiency at organizations around the world.”
