Apple has always managed to keep itself financially strong despite its propensity for locking consumers into its peculiar view of the world. But this probably goes just a bit too far... In an ironic twist, Steve Jobs' fantastical glass elevator in Apple's newly opened flagship store in New York took the term "vendor lock in" from the figurative to the literal when its doors sealed several shoppers in the elevator for nearly 45 minutes.

Luckily for Jobs and company, its products are generally better behaved.
