Tough to Swallow
This archiving system really guzzles 'em
September 29, 2005
2:00 PM -- We've heard of products that track, monitor, process, tally, store, retain, and even consume. Now there's one that does something else, according to AXS-One Inc. (AMEX: AXO):
AXS-ONE ENHANCES INGESTION FUNCTION
In response to market demand, the company has enhanced its architecture design for massively parallel archival and ingestion of electronic records. [Emphasis added.]
Over lunch, we read more:
The extensions within the AXS-One Compliance Platform now enable archival processing to be granularly distributed into discrete and loosely coupled business components that can be linearly scaled to meet exponentially growing volume and faster time pressure for the ingestion of large volumes of legacy e-mail and other content.
It seems this software chews its food before it swallows. I guess that's what "significant innovations in the archival ingestion process" are all about. The press release doesn't actually say. Nor does it carry the metaphor to its logical conclusion. That we're left to digest on our own.
